The Typist

Terms of Use

Last updated: 9 October 2026

These terms apply when you play The Typist on any platform, create an account, or buy The Typist Pro. The Typist is made by Roberto Alves Ferreira Junior, Amsterdam, the Netherlands ("we", "us"). You can reach us at faru@thetypist.app.

1. Playing the game

You may play The Typist for your own, non-commercial use. Please don't copy, resell or reverse-engineer the game, or interfere with its servers.

You can play without an account. The game then gives you an anonymous account so your scores can reach the leaderboards. You can later "save your career" with an email code (and, later, Apple or Google), so the same pen name and scores follow you to other devices.

2. Pen names and leaderboards

3. Books

The starter shelf and catalogue books come from public-domain sources such as Project Gutenberg and Standard Ebooks; recordings come from LibriVox. Books you import yourself stay on your device and are never uploaded. You are responsible for having the right to use any book or recording you import.

4. The Typist Pro

5. Your right to withdraw (EU and UK)

If you live in the EU or UK you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content and services that start straight away, you are asked at checkout to agree that Pro starts immediately and that you lose the right of withdrawal once it does. Even so, if something went wrong, write to us within 14 days and we'll sort it out fairly.

6. Changes and availability

We keep improving the game and may change, add or remove features. We'll try to keep the servers running, but we can't promise the game will always be available or free of bugs. If we ever shut down the online services, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and refund the unused part of any active yearly plan.

7. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law. Apart from that, we're not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time (see Delete your account). We may suspend accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

9. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and tell you in the game before the change applies.

10. Law

Dutch law applies. If you live elsewhere in the EU, you keep the protection of your own country's consumer law and can bring a claim there.
